Why I chose Chiropractic

I have always wanted to help people, since I was a child I always enjoyed learning about rescues.  I watched it on TV on the news stations, I saw it in newspapers and occasionally I would actually see it for myself.  As I got older I joined the Boy Scouts of America and there I got to learn first aid, wilderness survival, camping, etc.  I even particpated in Boy Scout events, such as the annual Klondike Derby.  There we had to perform tasks that required teamwork, first aid, rescue, and most of all, our brains.

Fast forward many years, I was picking two friends up from the airport and while we were driving home, we got rearended pretty hard.  When my parents found out, they strongly recommended that I see a chiropractor.  My first thought/question was, "what is a chiropractor or whatever you just said."  I ended up seeing a chiropractor whom my parents recommended.  I remember a few disctinct things about this doctor's office, first of all, all the patients wanted to be there, I was used to offices where tensions were high and you could tell that the patients in the waiting rooms were dreading the outcomes of the doctor's tests and diagnosis.

At this chiropractors office, things were different, there was a sense that the people really wanted to be there and there was an anticipation for what they were about to receive.  Everytime I saw this doctor walk up front with a patient, there were always smiles and laughter and the patient giving tons of gratitude.   When it was my turn, I was treated differently than I was by all other doctor's that I had seen in my life, this person really cared about me and made me feel that I was going to be allright.  I never felt that with other doctor's, but I'm sure they cared.

As time moved on, I got better and all he was used were his two hands on my spine, I was so amazed.  One thing that really got my attention was a patient at this chiropractor's office that had multiple sclerosis and had a real hard time walking.  I asked about that and was taught the chiropractic story, everthing in your body is controlled by your nerve system, if there is a misalignment in your spine, a subluxation, the vital information that travels from your brain to your body and from your body back to your brain is either distorted, damaged or cut off and thus health is compromised. Once this pressure is remove, then and only then can your body do what it was designed to do.

The patient with MS wanted to walk the distant of a football field and thru chiropractic, he was able to do that!  What an amazing thing, despite the disease process and damage to this person and their health, chiropractic was able to get that ever special and necessary nerve impulse to where it needed to go so that this young gentleman I saw was able to walk further than he ever did in his life.  He needed no drugs or surgery to do that, just good 'ol God given innate intellegence to do the job via a chiropractic adjustment!

Several years later while in college, my father asked me what I wanted to do with my life.  We talked about what there was for me to do in terms of helping people.  During our conversation I remembered the Chiropractor and what he did for me and so many other people.  My father suggested I call him and talk to him.   Long story short, I called, we met, I went to meet with a guidance counselor at the Chiropractic college he attended, I changed a few courses and a few months later I was in my first chiropractic class.

Fifteen year later, I still love what I do more than ever, the power of Chiropractic is amazing.  I see so many miracles happen in peoples lives, it is truly an honor to be able to aid in someones health with the most foundational healthcare there is other than your own body's own ability to live in homeostasis by itself.  I look forward to many more years serving people through Chiropractic.
